Antoine Obin

1929 – 1992

Obin was born in the northern coastal town of Cap-Haitien.  Mentored by his father, the accomplished artist Philome, Obin embraced the pictorial primitive tradition of the region, painting full time in his native home until his death.  His work evolved beyond the strict influences of his father, eventually emancipating himself of the representation of detail and solidifying his work among the great Cap-Haitien school artists.
