Édouard Duval-Carrié

1954 – Present

 

Édouard Duval-Carrié was born in Port-au-Prince.  He studied at the Université de Montréal, McGill University and received a BA from Loyola College, later attending the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris.  He currently lives in Miami as an active participant in the Haitian immigrant community. 

His art strives to tell the story of Haitian culture, history, Vodou religion and the politics that have continually troubled the nation.  His work often depicts the story of Haitian spirit and the intertwined caste struggle for justice.

His works have been exhibited in Europe and the Americas, including two public commissions in Miami, Florida.
