Prosper Pièrre-Louis 1947-1997
is a Haitian born in Bainet, near Jacmel.
One of the main contributors of the Saint Soleil art movement.
He was one of the Cinq Soleil (five Suns: Levoy Exil, Louisiane Saint Fleurant, Dieuseul Paul, Denis Smith) art movement. These artists had branched out of the Saint Soleil movement. He died in 1997 of an asthma attack.
Jean-René Jérôme

Jean-Rene Jerome was born in Petit-Goave and is considered one of Haiti’s greatest artists. His early exposure to a variety of artistic interests including voice, dance, theatre and ultimately painting lead to his formal studies at the School of Fine Arts in Port-au-Prince.
His work is best known for the originality of his expressions, particularly those of his nude female subjects. His work has been exhibited in galleries around the world and on permanent display at Musee d’art Nader.
He won the Esso Salon Competition in 1965, studied with Bernard Sejourne through a grant from the US government in 1970 and was a founding member of the School of Beauty with Bernard Sejourne, Jean-Claude Legagneur and Philippe Dodard.
