Born the 31st of December, 1961, Marie-Louise Fouchard now lives and works in Port au Prince, Haïti.
Between 1983 and 1986 she studies arts at the Université du Québec in Montreal. Meanwhile, in 1984,
she presents her first personal exhibition at the “Maison dʼHaïti”. In 1986 she is awarded with the First Excellency Price at the Quebecʼs National Visual Arts in Montreal, and in 1987 wins the Third Prize at the African Film Festival.
Back in Haïti in 1988, she embraces different artistic activities: painting, theater decoration, design and production of clothes and toys. She also teaches arts.
At present she works in interiors decoration.
In all her artistic production, Marie-Louise Fouchard, acceps all the constraints that the environment offers to transform it by using all same existing elements. Color is her tool. She masters the three dimensional space by mixing and composing it.
Playing with colors makes her discover the different moods light is able to create. These experiences made her understand that color generates a kind of power that changes our inner energy into positive or negative.
All objects, and everything surrounds them are color. How to play with a spectrum of colors to reach harmony?
This is the question that guides her all the way through her artistic path.
